Dr Siavash Mahdavi

Founder

Dr Siavash Mahdavi is the Founder and CEO of GROW. Siavash currently holds a BEng in Mechatronics, MSc in Intelligent Systems from UCL and a PhD in Evolutionary Robotics as well as being a recognised expert in the additive manufacturing industry.

The foundations of GROW were laid in 2008 when Siavash established his first start-up, Within. Siavash’s software made breakthroughs in the design of lightweight aircraft components, customised running shoes, and even orthopaedic implants. After six years, Within successfully was acquired by Autodesk. During his time at Within, Siavash realised a gap in the secured distributed manufacturing industry and he founded GROW to fill that gap.

He also founded a social enterprise, Free_D, an initiative that aims to reveal the potential of 3D printing to educate and create employment opportunities for the survivors of sex trafficking in India.

Ray Coyle

Director

Ray studied law and then went on to receive a Masters in IP law and is a solicitor admitted to the role in England and Wales.

Ray was a director of European law firm Osborne Clarke prior to joining GROW and spent 8 years advising technology companies and investors on corporate and commercial transactions. Ray’s expertise in intellectual property matters led him to advise many businesses that needed to protect unauthorized access to their IP.

Prior to his legal career, Ray spent a 15 years in the software sector, holding senior positions at TechData, Sun Microsystems and Quarterdeck before joining the board of the UbiQ group, which he helped grow into the largest OEM software distributor in Europe. He then founded and ran Software Premiums, a specialist promotional software developer

Dermot Madden

CTO

Dermot Madden is the CTO of GROW. Dermot has a Masters in Computer Science from National University of Ireland, Maynooth and a MPhil in Physics from University College London, where he worked on molecular quantum mechanics simulations.

Dermot was a senior developer with Iris Software Group, tackling their harder technical developments and contributing to prominent releases. Prior to that Dermot worked with Allied Irish Banks, in the Business Development team of Card Issuing where he was involved in design, compliance and project management.
